Florence by APNA (the App) is a professional development and career growth app for nurses. It has been created by and is owned by the Australian Primary Health Care Nurses Association (APNA).
By creating and maintaining an account on the App, you agree to these Terms of Service. If you do not accept these Terms of Service, you must not create an account on the App. You may close your account on the App at any time.
APNA may vary these Terms of Service by providing you with reasonable notice. If you do not agree with the Terms of Service as varied, you may terminate your account before, or a reasonable period after, the variation takes effect.
App functionality
The functionality of the App shall be as provided by APNA. It is intended to provide users with an easy-to-use platform to help nurses, nursing students and managers of nurses to manage continuing professional development, learning and career advancement opportunities.
Non-nurse users may also create accounts on the App to connect with nurses.
User profile types
APNA may make different classes of user profile available to users of the App. These classes may have different App functionality.
In particular, individual users –people who sign up to the websites and App in their personal capacity – can receive job advertisements and other recommendations. These features are not available to users who create an account through a corporate membership provided by their employer.
The functionality associated with a user’s profile will be described in general terms during the account creation process.
Variations to functionality
APNA may vary the App’s functionality from time to time, including the functionality made available to different classes of user. Reasonable notice will be provided of significant changes to App functionality.
Appropriate Use
You must not do anything with the websites or the App that:
violates this Agreement or other terms or policies that apply to the website and App;
contravenes any law or ethical guidelines (including – without limitation – the ethical guidelines made or endorsed by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia);
is misleading or deceiving of other users of the App, including misrepresenting your qualifications or accreditations to other users of the App;
involves uploading viruses or malicious code to the websites or App;
could reasonably be expected to overburden, disable, interfere with or impair the operation of the websites or App;
involves collecting or scraping user information from the websites or App (or selling or licencing any such information);
defames, harasses, menaces, or offends other users of the websites or App;
involves sharing or uploading content that is illegal or inappropriate in the reasonable opinion of APNA;
reverse engineering the code of the websites or App;
amounts to an attempt to do the above things.
APNA may remove or restrict user access where:
it suspects a contravention of its appropriate use policies have occurred;
it forms the view that a user’s account has been compromised, or the user’s use of the websites or App poses a risk to the integrity of APNA’s systems;
if forms the view that removal or restriction is desirable to avoid or mitigate misuse of the websites or App;
it is reasonably necessary to comply with APNA’s legal obligations.
APNA does not need to provide notice or warning before removing or restricting a user’s access.
Users must also comply with any reasonable conditions decided by us and notified to you.
Intellectual property and Privacy laws
Intellectual property on the websites and App is owned or licensed by APNA. Nothing in these Terms of Service is intended to transfer any right, title or interest in that intellectual property to users of the websites or App.
The user warrants that they have the authority to upload any information that they upload to the websites and App and do not infringe any privacy laws or intellectual property in doing so. Users indemnify APNA against any costs or claims for privacy law breaches or intellectual property infringement related to information uploaded by users to the websites or App.
Users retain the rights, title and interest to any intellectual property (if any) in information that they upload to the App. However, users grant APNA an irrevocable licence to store, use and reproduce that information for the purposes of operating the websites and App.
Users also warrant that they will not upload any information that is in breach of a duty of confidence owed to another person.
Such information, or information that infringes intellectual property or privacy rights of a third party, may be taken down by APNA.

All information on this websites and App is presented by APNA for the purpose of being used for professional development and career growth for the benefit of both our members, other nurses and the general public.

Linkage to external websites should not be taken to be an endorsement or a recommendation of any third party products or services offered by virtue of any information, material or content linked from or to this site. Users of links provided by this site are responsible for being aware of which organisation is hosting the site they visit.
Views or recommendations provided in linked sites do not necessarily reflect those of APNA.
User profile
APNA may use information about how users interact with the websites or App to provide the user with specific information which may be of interest or useful to them. APNA may also use this information to improve the websites or App functionality in general. This information may be shared with external consultants or developers as APNA considers necessary to achieve these purposes.
User credentials
Users of the websites or App must take reasonable care to ensure their password is secure and users must not share their own password with any other person. If a user suspects that their password has been compromised they must immediately take steps to reset their password.
Service availability
We aim to make the App is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. However, this indication is not to be given binding effect. Users acknowledge that:
• APNA cannot guarantee availability 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
• APNA does not guarantee that the App will be free from interruption.
For example, it is possible that on occasions the Platform may be unavailable for various reasons within or outside APNA’s control – such as routine maintenance or service interruptions to APNA’s providers.
If for any reason there is, or we anticipate, an interruption to the services on the Platform for a substantial period, we will use reasonable endeavours to publish details of such activity on the App or websites, in advance if it is practicable.
APNA may determine to cease providing the websites or App at anytime by providing users with a reasonable period of notice.
Security of the APNA websites and app
Users should be aware that the World Wide Web is an insecure public network that gives rise to a potential risk that a user's transactions are being viewed, intercepted or modified by third parties or that files which the user downloads may contain computer viruses or other defects. Financial transactions through this websites and App are conducted via Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connections with a secured third-party.
APNA accepts no liability for any interference with or damage to a user's computer system, software or data occurring in connection with this websites and App. APNA accepts no liability for any financial loss suffered by a user in these circumstances. Users are encouraged to take appropriate and adequate precautions to ensure that their own system is free of viruses or other contamination that may interfere with or damage the user's computer system, software or data.
